Event Details

Production System Design and Work Structuring January 11 & 12 This seminar provides an overview of Lean Construction and its underlying theory, principles and techniques. The seminar will focus on the design, operation and improvement of the Last Planner System™ of production control and the continuing practice of work structuring.

This session is a must for people and companies considering or adopting Lean Construction. Fiatech Members and LCI members are invited to a follow on meeting on January 13, "Filling the Box: Managing the Supply Chain" at the Key Bridge Marriott on January 13th. The meeting will explore how philosophy, principles and techniques drawn from lean construction can be applied to the Fiatech Roadmap, particularly the “Real-time Project and Facility Management, Coordination and Control” box that extends over all phases of the roadmap.

We suggest participants read "The Goal" by E. Goldratt. Additional pre readings will be returned by email to registrants.

The seminar will be held in at the Key Bridge Marriott near Washington, DC. 1401 Lee Highway, Arlington, VA, 22209, (703) 524-6400. Ask for the rate for the Lean Construction Institute.

SoCal Lean Construction Institute

The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.
